Meet the Teacher!

Meet Ashley, the Director of Heart and Tone Voice Studio!

Ashley has been involved in music her entire life. Her mother likes to tell people that she was singing before she was talking. Ashley was involved in choir all through school, and found her time in music classes among some of her most enjoyable moments. After graduating high school, Ashley went on to attend Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas where she majored in Music and minored in Psychology. In 2014, Ashley graduated from SFA with a Bachelor’s of Music with a concentration in voice. In the fall of 2014, Ashley began pursuing a second degree in Music Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in Denton. After completing practicum hours and a music therapy internship with juveniles in detention, Ashley graduated with her Bachelor’s of Science in Music Therapy and passed her board certification exam in May 2018. Ashley has worked in inpatient and residential psychiatric hospitals, and has experience in skilled nursing homes as well as special education classrooms. She is passionate about sharing the joy of music with others, and uses her therapy background to help foster a supportive, positive environment where her students have room to grow not only their voice, but their confidence and self-esteem.

Ashley lives in Jarrell, Texas with her significant other, three cats, and two dogs. When she isn’t teaching lessons, she enjoys reading, spending time with friends, watching reality TV, and going to the gym.
